About the role

We are seeking a Home Health Medical Coder to join our growing team at Shearwater Health. This is a full-time, remote. As a Home Health Medical Coder, you will be responsible for accurately coding medical records to ensure appropriate reimbursement and compliance with industry regulations.

What you’ll be doing

1. Review and analyzae medical documentation to identify the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes
2. Assign codes in accordance with the latest coding guidelines and standards
3. Collaborate with clinicians and other healthcare professionals to clarify information and resolve coding discrepancies
4. Maintain detailed records and documentation to support coding decisions
5. Stay up-to-date with changes in coding regulations, policies, and best practices
6. Assist with audits and other quality assurance initiatives
7. Provide training and guidance to other coding team members as needed

What we’re looking for

1. Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification, or HCS-D
2. Minimum of 1 year experience in home health medical coding
3. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
4. Proficiency in using coding references and software
5. Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
7. Strong communication and problem-solving skills
